If you are looking for someone to help with research and development of your supplement, lab test or other health-related venture, you will be looking for someone with not only research experience and skills but also ongoing clinical experience. After all, if clinicians will be recommending your product or service, it is clinicians who will better understand on what basis those decisions are made.
I am convinced that clinical practice needs to be balanced with regular research and study. Without clinical practice research can become disconnected from the reality of the needs of individual clients. On the other hand time dedicated to research and study allows me to continually expand my knowledge to be able to help more and more people with various conditions, genetics and individual circumstances to find optimal health.
Research and study is largely driven by my clients’ concerns but I also offer up to one day a week of paid research and consulting which also informs my clinical practice.
I continually develop my research skills already honed from both my years reading physics at Cambridge University as an undergraduate and from my years of daily research in nutrition, physiology and biochemistry that began in 2010 even before I began my formal training in nutritional therapy in 2012. I also worked on research and development for a blood testing laboratory (FunctionalDX) on a weekly basis for 5 years until 2023.
These skills and the resulting knowledge base from both research and clinical practice can benefit laboratories seeking support in developing tests and interpretations of test results, supplement companies consulting with me to develop the most clinically useful products and educators in developing evidence-based teaching materials.
